Enjoy the Greater Vasa parrot (Coracopsis vasa) from every angle, as beautifully portrayed in this original oil painting by Ria Winters. Endemic to Madagascar and the Comoros, Greater Vasas are unique with their unusual breeding and mating behavior. The species lives in loose groups wherein each female has at least three to eight sexual partners. In breeding condition, female Vasas lose feathers on their head and crown and the skin becomes bright yellow, giving the bird a vulturine appearance.
