I illustrated this tiny parrot for Birds and Bird-lore of Bougainville and the Solomon Islands. It also occurs in New Guinea and other islands in the south-west Pacific. Like Finsch’s Pygmy-Parrot this birds has spines projecting from the tail-feathers, presumably to aid in clambering over tree bark searching for lichens to eat.
